Confirmation 2015 - BEGINS on

Sunday, February 8th, 2015!

A Confirmation Invitation

You are invited to come and be a part of our “Confirmation 2015!” – a fun and meaningful experience in your continuing faith journey. “Confirmation 2015!” is for 6th and 7th grade students and gives us an opportunity to explore together the character of God, and our relationship with God. “Confirmation 2015!” encourages us to live in such a way that our lives increasingly reflect our decision to ‘claim the name’ of Christ, to live as ‘people of the way’ – as Jesus people! “Confirmation 2015!” also helps us to understand the history, faith, and mission of those who have gone before us as they ‘claimed the name’ of Christ, including the unique history, faith, and mission of our United Methodist denomination. This year, we will be joining forces with the pastor (Rev. Nichpolas Gleason), and confirmation youth of Hamilton and Warsaw United Methodist Churches, and will rotate meeting between our church and Hamilton UMC.

When and Where “Confirmation 2015!” Meets

With classes on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (just before Youth Group which is held every other week at 5:00 p.m.), we will rotate meeting at our church and at Hamilton UMC and will begin meeting weekly on Sunday, February 8th, and continuing through April, (with just a couple of exceptions: we will not meet on March 29th and April 5th), and will conclude on Sunday, April 19th. We are tenitively planning for Confirmation Sunday will be on – Sunday, May 3rd.

Please click here for copies of our full “Confirmation 2015!” meeting schedule and weekly handouts.

Open Minds and Open Hearts

As a part of our Confirmation 2015 experience, we will strive to combine the intellectual and spiritual part of the confirmation process (the weekly Confirmation Class), with the living and serving part of a maturing Christian faith (leaving the church to be in ministry to or with others). This will be fun – and we will get to know each other pretty well. We are really looking forward to seeing you on February 8th at 4:00 p.m.!

New Covenant Bible Study!

Interested in a new Bible Study? We have completed the first 8-week component of the the new Covenant Bible Study - an in-depth group Bible study in which participants read and discuss the Bible together, learning how to love God—and each other—better. The 24-week experience covers all the books of the Bible as participants move back and forth from Old Testament to New Testament. Divided into three 8-week sessions, the first section we've just completed covered “Creating the Covenant.” The second section will begin on Thursday, February 12th, 2015, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., and will cover “Living the Covenant.” All are invited to attend - whether you participated in the first study in the Fall of 2014 or not! We will meet every Thursday for eight weeks (Feb. 12th through and includng Maundy Thursday, April 2nd! This will be a GREAT Lenten study for all!

The third section will finish up in the summer or Fall 2015 and will cover, “Trusting the Covenant.” Covenant Bible Study shows the interconnectedness of scripture while demonstrating how the covenant relationship between God and people is woven through the entire Bible. Call the office today (357-3324) or e-mail Rev. Smith, or sign-up in the Welcome Center to express your interest today!
